Swiss VAT deadlines calendarNever miss a VAT return again
The VAT return due dates for the year you choose, with a calendar file that reminds you of each deadline seven days and one day before.
- Free
- No sign-up
- Nothing is stored
A reminder, not your AFC file. The dates follow the VAT Act (60 days after the period, art. 71 and 86 LTVA), the dates the AFC publishes, the annual settlement instalments and the move to the next working day. An extension granted by the AFC or a special period it authorised is not modelled: check your own file.
Next deadline
Every deadline of this year is past: choose the next year.
Four returns per year (LTVA art. 35). A quarter's return is filed and paid within 60 days, by the end of the second month that follows.
- Return
Q1 2026
Monday, June 1, 2026
The rule gives Sunday, May 31, 2026, a Saturday, a Sunday or 1 August: the deadline ends on this working day (LTVA art. 81, PA art. 20 al. 3).
- Return
Q2 2026
Monday, August 31, 2026
- Return
Q3 2026
Monday, November 30, 2026
- Return
Q4 2026
Monday, March 1, 2027
The rule gives Sunday, February 28, 2027, a Saturday, a Sunday or 1 August: the deadline ends on this working day (LTVA art. 81, PA art. 20 al. 3).
- Correction
Finalisation of the year 2026
Tuesday, August 31, 2027
Any error found while closing the 2026 accounts is corrected at the latest in the return of the period holding the 180th day after the year end (LTVA art. 72). Without a correction within 240 days, the AFC treats the year as finalised.
A cantonal public holiday also moves a deadline to the next working day: check those of your canton. An extension granted by the AFC (up to three months through the AFC portal) is yours to add.
The file works with Apple Calendar, Google Calendar and Outlook. Each deadline has two reminders, seven days and one day before. Importing the file again updates the events instead of duplicating them.
Sources
Your AFC file prevails: an extension or a special period it granted is not modelled.
Let the deadlines come to you
In Numezis, the VAT return is prepared from your invoices, and every deadline in the compliance calendar tracks its status.
A late VAT return costs interest, not just a reminder
In Switzerland, the VAT return is due within sixty days after the end of the period. The dates fall at the end of a month, sometimes on a weekend, and easily slip under the radar between two closings. This calendar gives you the year's deadlines for your reporting method and produces a file you import into your calendar, with two reminders per deadline.
How to use the calendar
1
Choose your method
Quarterly (effective method), half-yearly (net tax rate), monthly or annual on request: your notification from the AFC states yours. The annual settlement adds the instalments.
2
Choose the year
The calendar calculates the dates for the chosen year, including the last quarter, whose deadline falls in the following year.
3
Import the file
The .ics file opens in Apple Calendar, Google Calendar and Outlook, with a reminder seven days and one day before each deadline.
A concrete example
With the effective method in 2026, the return for the first quarter is due on 31 May, the second on 31 August, the third on 30 November, and the fourth on 28 February 2027. 31 May 2026 falls on a Sunday: the deadline ends on Monday 1 June. The corrections of 2026 go into the second-quarter 2027 return, due on 31 August 2027.
Mistakes that make you miss the deadline
- Counting from the invoice date instead of the end of the reporting period.
- Relying on another company's method: the frequency depends on the method the Federal Tax Administration (FTA) assigned to yours.
What changes in 2026
The rule of sixty days after the end of the period does not change. The 2026 dates are calculated by this rule and not entered by hand. An extended deadline granted by the Federal Tax Administration (FTA) remains for you to check.
Frequently asked questions about VAT deadlines
When must the VAT return be filed?
Within sixty days after the end of the period: end of May, end of August, end of November and end of February for the quarterly method.
What happens if the deadline falls on a weekend?
It moves to the next working day: the VAT Act applies the administrative procedure rule (LTVA art. 81, PA art. 20 al. 3). The calendar shows the moved date for a Saturday, a Sunday and 1 August; check your canton's public holidays.
Does the file create duplicates if I import it twice?
No. Each deadline has a stable identifier: importing the file again updates the events.
Which method applies to my company?
The one in your file at the AFC: quarterly for the effective method, half-yearly for the net tax rate, monthly or annual if the AFC granted it on request. The calendar covers all five.
Does this calendar replace the FTA portal?
No. It reminds you of the dates. The return itself is filed through the FTA's channels or through your software.
