Family allowances 2026 in the 26 cantons

Federal law sets a minimum of CHF 215 a month for the child allowance and CHF 268 for the vocational training allowance. Each canton may pay more, and each cantonal fund sets its own contribution rate. This table brings together the amounts in force on 1 January 2026 and the cantonal fund's rate in every canton.

- Valais: employees also contribute, 0.13% of the AHV wage in 2026, on top of the employer rate.
- Vaud and Valais: the cantonal fund also levies cantonal contributions (vocational training, day care, family fund); the rate shown covers family allowances only.
- “—”: cantonal law provides no such allowance.
Method
Every amount comes from the Federal Social Insurance Office (FSIO) official table “Types and amounts of family allowances 2026”, cross-checked for ten cantons against the cantonal fund's own page. The rate is the cantonal family compensation fund's; trade-association funds apply their own rates.
